Is it Time to Flip the Heaters on Yet?

Here in the UK we have not really had much of a summer this year, we have had a few days here and there but thats about it. We are now coming into the Autumn season which will pass by quickly and bring on the winter months. I get a vast amount of people asking me what the best time would be to reswitch their heaters on. But this question is a bit like answering how long is a piece of string, its just not an easy question to answer, so lets take a look at a few things which may make you switch on and check your central heating.

The Temperature

Obviously this will play a big part in whether you can or cannot switch on your heating, the temperature in the UK can change within minutes, there is no predicting. I believe as soon as the temperature gets beneath ten, then you are going to begin feeling the chill.

Personal Preference

This is why the above question is so difficult to respond; you have to look at your own personal preference, each and every case-by-case person is different. Some people may feel the cold a lot more than some other people, so you should start switching the heaters on then.

Months

Although this is not something solid to go by, you should also take the colder months into account. I mean the last two months of the year are no doubt the coldest, and every year these months tend to get colder and colder due to global warming. So my answer to the majority of people would be to keep them switched on during these months and keep the doors closed so heat does not escape.
